Food Services
Emergency Food Network - 434-979-9180, 900 Harris Street, Charlottesville – Food orders may be placed by phone only, 9 am-12 noon, Monday or Friday.  Food may be picked up 1:30 pm-3:30 pm Monday or Friday.  The EFN provides food to persons in need once a month, on a self-referral basis.  Thereafter, assistance may be provided only with an agency referral. Food assistance is for Charlottesville or Albemarle residents only.
Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry - 434-996-7868, 2050 Lambs Road, Charlottesville – Food distribution is available on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00pm, Wednesday from 2:00-4:00pm, Thursday from 6:30-8:30pm, and Saturday from 10am-12pm. Assistance is awarded twice per calendar month.
Provides meals to food insecure children of the Hollymead ES and Sutherland MS community. They accept financial and food donations.  I don't believe they have a website but they do have a Facebook page.

Provides public health services to residents of Greene, Albemarle, Louisa, Fluvanna, Nelson, and the City of Charlottesville. Clinic offerings in each county include immunizations, family planning, sexual health screening, TB testing, WIC information, and nutrition classes.

C4K- Mentorship increases self-confidence, decision- making skills, and chances of success in life for youth. We provide our members with consistent, supportive mentors to guide them as they achieve their goals.

Cville Mutual Aid- This is a place where you can request resources and support, but also where you can come to find opportunities to offer time, money, support and resources to community members in need.

The Santa Fund provides essentials like clothing, shoes, medicine, eyeglasses, and school supplies/books for school children in need in our community. This year, the Santa Fund for Schoolkids took on new urgency, creating the Santa Fund COVID Assistance Program to help families with COVID-19 related needs, such as internet access for virtual learning and assistance with other tools to provide a safe learning environment.

Rent and Mortgage Relief Program (RMRP) is being administered by Virginia Housing to offer relief to those experiencing difficulty due to COVID-19.

Tutoring and Extracurricular

Chance To Dance (C2D) is Charlottesville Ballet’s after-school outreach program for grades K-5 that gives children a hands-on experience with the arts.

Literacy Voulenteers is a non-profit agency that offers free basic literacy and English as a Second Language tutoring to adults through recruitment and training of volunteer tutors who work one-on-one with learners, helping them become more productive workers, parents, citizens, neighbors, and consumers.

Finances

Charlottesville Area Helpline for Financial Assistance- 434-234-4490 Charlottesville/Albemarle – Coordinates emergency assistance for local residents who are threatened with homelessness, loss of power or fuel, or other temporary financial emergencies. Calls to the helpline must be made between 11am and 2pm Monday through Friday.
Dominion Virginia Power- 1-866-DOM-HELP (1-866-366-4357) – If you are having difficulty paying electric bills call your power company. Call early to find out if you are eligible for payment arrangements or energy assistance funds. This can help prevent electricity from being cut off. Energy assistance is not limited to low income customers, but anyone facing hardship.
